VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

You need to print out this form, fill it out and get it signed after full-filling your LAFF requirements.  Read below for more info. 

Volunteer Hours
Required Hours to fulfill PHBA Volunteer commitment.  4 hrs per child, 8 hrs max.

Volunteer Deposit
LAFF - League Assistant Fund Fee (Volunteer) is $100.00 per Player with a maximum of $200.00 for two players. Once you have completed your 4hrs per child, maximum of 8hrs, of volunteer time you will be refunded your $100.00. Please drop off signed off (LAFF) volunteer form @ snack shack.  LAFF (Volunteer) Buy out is $200.00 per child with a maximum of $400.00, for two players or more.

Snack Shack Person 

  • Will be scheduled by team for certain dates and will need to show up those dates.
  • Must complete 4 hrs. of volunteer time in snack shack.
  • It’s up to each person to sign in and have head person sign you out.
  • Must have head snack person sign off volunteer form to get check back.
  • Must make sure if schedule for certain times with head volunteer person.
  • If you don't make your scheduled snack shack time, you will not have your LAFF refunded.

Field Game Prep Duties

  • Must screen drag field if not done before games by others and fix batter box and pitching mound.
  • Must chalk the field for every home game 45 minutes before the game.
  • It’s important that field prep person remove base rubber indicators and put back on base pegs after game.  If not, manager will be called and have to come back to field.
  • It’s up to field prep person to put bases away and lock knack box after the game.
  • If you are a great prep person you will help every game and other team will like you for it.
  • Take pride on how the field looks.
  • It’s up to your coach to sign off your L.A.F.F. or volunteer sheet to receive your money back.  It is up to you to have your manager sign off your volunteer sheet and turn into the snack shack between May 5th to May 10th to get your money back.
  • For Boys National and Western, water mounds and rake after every game.

Pre Season Work on Fields

  • Must show up to Four (4) hours of work on fields to receive check back.  Either one whole Saturday or 2 different ½ Day Times.
  • Must come to their kids league field at assigned place.  If change field date you must ok it with the head person of field prep.
  • Must work hard or no check.
  • Bring weed eaters, sprayers, hoe, shovel or anything needed on fields.
  • Must bring their volunteer sheet to have it signed off to get check back.
  • Two people can get 4 hours each on 1 field.

Scorekeeper Duties

  • There is no scorekeepers for Instructional League.
  • Scorekeeper must scorekeep every game or make sure the duties are done every game including playoffs.
  • Home team games scorekeeper is responsible for turning in game sheets to snack shack filled out properly and check standing.
  • Scorekeeper must check with other scorekeeper every inning.
  • Make sure all standing and scores are recorded right and signed by both managers and umpires.
  • If your duties are done correctly you will receive your $100.00 L.A.F.F. volunteer check back. But it is up to the manager if you get this duty or do something else.  Also, it is up to you to get your manager to sign off your volunteer sheet and get handed in between May 15th to May 20th to snack shack and checks will be sent back.

Team Coordinator

  • Work with manager and coach on team list & e-mails, coordinate practices, handle all volunteers on team to make sure they are doing their jobs right, snack schedule for games, team meetings.
  • Collect money from each family for team basket, names on jerseys, coaches gifts for end of season party, etc. It's usually best to collect one amount for everything and the earlier the better.
  • Be sure to give the basket volunteer the amount they need first, so they can get the basket done, and turned in on time.
  •  League Coordinator to sign off on the LAFF
  • Coordinate with Photo Day Person and Basket Person.

Photo Day Person

A 4hr Commitment of one of the following job duties

  • Snack Shack
  • Selling PHBA Merchandise
  • Working the Basket Raffle/Auction
  • Working the Jump Houses or any other activities that day
  • Working with Photographers in whatever their needs may be

Basket Person

 

  • In charge of putting together a team basket to be turned in on Opening Day. 
  • Needs to collect money from Team Coordinator and assemble a basket to be donated to the league for Photo Day and/or banquet. 
  • Coordinate with team coordinator.

 

Umpire Duties and Share Umpire Duty

  • Shall include 16 games during regular season or play offs, or boys tournament, or girls tournament.
  • Gear bags to be handed out at start of season and returned at end of season or no check back.
  • Umpire may receive 1 meal per game umpired.
  • Umpire may keep their hats and shirts at end of year.
  • Umpire must attend mandatory clinics.
  • First year umpires – 1 class clinic and 1 field clinic;  2-5 years – 1 clinic per year; 6 years or more – you don’t have to do a clinic.

Banquet Volunteer

There are many different jobs when you volunteer for the Banquet. Here are a few of them listed below:
No one will volunteer for more than a 4hr Commitment of one of the following job duties

  • Ticket Sales
  • Putting up Flyers
  • Decorating for the Banquet
  • Trucks to deliver
  • Salad Bar Prep
  • Salad Bar Station
  • Set Up for the Banquet
  • Clean Up
