A Letter from the President of PHBA
After 52 years PHBA is looking better than ever!
Hello, my name is Mark Rolandelli. I grew up playing baseball in PHBA in the 70’s. After going to PH Elementary, PH Middle and PH High School, I would say that I have always been a part of the local community. Having coached six kids over the last 21 years and coaching some 37 times through the baseball, traveling and softball programs PHBA has been a big part of my kids youth experience. Because of that I am proud to be part of a team of volunteers who have made such a difference over the years and made PHBA such a fun and successful league.
PHBA now has a place to call home with the completion of the new Snack Shack, restrooms, storage and meeting rooms. It took two years of planning, coordinating, budgeting and getting a loan. It took one year to build the baseball complex with all the help of all the local volunteers and companies donations to make it happen. This complex now has a first class snack shack run perfectly by Mary Everett. We also now have actual restrooms with flushing toilets and a meeting room to serve the Board and Commissioners and all the sign ups and tournaments.
We are looking to start a second girl’s tournament on Memorial weekend. Our new parade route makes the parade more intament and now ends up at our home complex. We now try to get every team to play opening day. With our future dreams of re-doing Pleasant Oaks Park now that the new Bond Measure passed. We have a new dream of a new storage garage at Pleasant Oaks Park that would let us get rid of the last two sea containers that we house all of our chalk, equipment and junk the baseball and softball leagues need to store.
I am pleased to announce that we are going to start a long waiting fall ball league this fall. With much thanks to Paul Cerejo and Russ Carroll to make this happen. I think they are trying to get more baseball trophies at the complex since the girls softball has them out numbered in trophies 10 to 1!
I’d like to thank many different people for their help… starting with our fields and equipment manager, Frank Zablocki for help with making this process better too.
Our line registration run by Vic Belfiore, Sara St. Hill, Paul Cerejo and Mary Everett ran smoother than ever this year.
With help from Bruce McIvor and Eric Cristmanson the load of the fields have been lightened off my shoulders with 14 fields to keep up.
Chris Baker has handled the umpires like nobody else. With class, professional, organized and fun. Chris is a huge part of making this league run smooth.
Brian Bonney and Melissa Brackins are teaming up on uniforms to get it right. Brian also does a great job of handling all the league sponsors.
Rob Curran runs the clinics this year with the help of Sandy Engdahl with ease.
With people like Julie Curry and Sharon Christman you don’t have to worry about the checkbook and it’s nice to have two people you would trust with your own wallet.
Then there is Rich Persson that does a first class job with Opening Day to make it fun for everyone.
PHBA is an all volunteer league and I’m happy to say we still have help from people all through the past such as Charley Daly, Russ Martin, Harry Hendry, Steve Mitolo, Jim Goonan, Mike Goonan and 100’s of people throughout the community. It’s awesome to be a part of this dream and to see the next board members and commissioners’ step up to help create the new PHBA that last year won the best non profit organization in California in 2009!!! What an honor…..
Thanks to all…. Have Fun & Let’s Play Ball!!
Mark Rolandelli,
President PHBA
